The Jellyfish
IC 443, aka The Jellyfish, is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini. Our current understanding is that IC 443 is the remnants of a Type II supernova, the ultimate fate of a massive star, which occurred approximately 3000 to 35,000 years ago. Image is a total of 7 hr 15 min exposure (87 x 5 min lights, 30 darks, 64 flats, 64 dark flats; modified Canon 40D; Takahashi E180ED astrograph; Paramount) processed with Images Plus 4.5; PixInsight; Photoshop CS6.
