Messier 101 in Ursa Major
Messier 101, aka the Pinwheel Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. In the spiral arms of the galaxy are many blue areas of active star formation as well as red HII regions. The image is a total combined exposure of 5 hours 25 minutes (65 x 5 min lights, 30 darks, 64 flats) with an SBIG ST2000XCM camera and an Astro-Physics 130mm f/8 refractor.
