Messier 82633 viewsThis combined Ha and Luminance image shows the starburst galaxy Messier 82 in Ursa Major with its filamentary outflows of ionized hydrogen. This emission is suggested to be due to stellar winds caused by massive energetic young stars (as well as supernova resulting from their death) being born at a high rate within the galaxy. Total of 9 hr 20 min exposure with a Takahashi CCA-250 f/5 astrograph; Nights of 15, 28 March 2015, 12, 13 Jan 2016, 8, 9 Feb 2016; 2015 Paramount ME, QSI 683wsg, 5 nm Astrodon Ha filter (Lum 11 x 20 min @ - 20 degrees C; Ha 17 x 20 min @ - 20 degrees C), calibrated, registered, integrated, and processed in PixInsight 1.8.4.1195.

The Crescent Nebula in Ha and O[III]600 viewsThe Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) is an emission nebula found in the constellation Cygnus. The emission is powered by strong stellar winds from a Wolf-Rayet star colliding with previously expelled outer envelopes of the stars atmosphere. This image is a combination of 5 hrs of H alpha data (Astrodon 5 nm Gen 2 filter) and 5 hrs 20 m of O[III] data (Astrodon 3 nm Gen 2 filter). Taken with a Takahashi CCA-250 f/5 astrograph and QSI683wsg camera on a Paramount ME; August 11th , 13th and Sept 14th - 17th, 2015 in Mayhill, NM (Ha, 15 x 1200 sec lights @ -20o C; O[III], 16 x 1200 sec lights @ -20o C 21 darks; 126 bias; 128 flats) Image acquisition MaxIm DL 6.08; Processed in PixInsight 1.8.4.1185 Ripley (x64). The calibrated, aligned, and integrated Ha and O[III] images were stretched using Masked Stretch, Ha stretch matched to O[III] with Linear Fit, and combined using Pixel Math.

Messier 27 in Vulpecula599 viewsMessier 27, which was discovered in 1764 by Charles Messier, is a bright planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula. The nebulosity is due to the expulsion of a star's outer layers in the later stages of its life and is illuminated by the stars intense radiation (blue star in the center of the nebula). Image was taken in Mayhill, NM on the nights of 14, 15, 16, 17 September 2015; total of 5 hrs 40 min exposure through an Astro-Physics 178 mm f/9 refractor with field flattener and an SBIG STF8300c camera with OAG (ST-i) on an Astro-Physics 1200 mount (17 x 20 min lights dithered @ -15o C; 33 darks; 128 bias; 128 flats); image acquisition with MaxIm DL 6.10 and processed with PixInsight 1.8.4.1170. Processing included Bayer drizzle, a Synthetic Luminance, and Multiscale Processing.

Total of 18 hrs exposure with a Takahashi CCA-250 f/5 astrograph; Nights of 15, 24, 28 March 2015; 12, 13 Jan 2016; 8, 9 Feb 2016: 2015 Paramount ME, QSI683wsg, Astrodon Gen2 filters (Ha 5 nm); (Lum 16 x 20 min; Ha 17 x 20 min; R 7 x 20 min; G 7 x 20 min; B 7 x 29 min all @ - 20 degrees C), calibrated, registered, integrated, and processed in PixInsight 1.8.4.1195 (x 64).

Open Cluster in Cassiopeia 354 viewsThe open cluster NGC 663 is found in the constellation Cassiopeia. NGC 663 contains a significant number of Be stars (spectral class B stars showing emission lines in their spectra). The distance from us is on the order of 2,100 parsecs (6850 light years). The image is a total of 5 hrs 20 min exposure taken with a 12.5” RCOS f/9 @ f/6 (Astro-Physics CCDT67) and SBIG STF8300m camera on a Paramount ME in Mayhill, NM on the nights of 28 Nov and 3 Dec, 2018 (6 x 1200 sec R; 5 x 1200 sec G & B; 24 darks; 128 bias; 128 flats). Processed in PixInsight 1.8.5.1353 Ripley (x64).
