NGC7000 American Nebula1332 viewsThis was taken with the stock Rebel XT lens at 55mm. It has been croped.
Lunar eclipse - August 28, 20071147 viewsSelection of seven pictures from about 350 taken during the event. Taken with Canon Rebel 350D XT and a tripod, that's it!
Large Prominance May 20, 20071174 viewsThis was taken through the PST using a webcam. The webcam required the glass portion of a barlow to come to focus. A better barlow would have made a better picture. Seeing was bad and a little windy. Not bad for a pst.
Orion nebula complex1251 viewsNot the greatest picture - but a test of the new Borg 71FL astrograph with the modded Canon XS DSLR. This is a 25 minute exposure at ISO 1600. Come out this winter to see the Orion nebula for yourself at Oliver Lee State Park.
Heart Nebula1341 viewsThe Heart Nebula, IC 1805, Sh2-190, lies some 7500 light years away from Earth and is located in the Perseus arm of the Galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia. This is an emission nebula showing glowing gas and darker dust lanes. The open cluster of stars near the center known as Melotte 15 illuminates the nebula. This is a single 7min exposure thru an FSQ106/Ha filter from Tzec Maun Observatory in Mayhill NM.
Supernova in Messier 1011387 viewsA supernova has appeared in the galaxy designed Messier 101. A supernova is essentially a star at the end of its lifetime that has exploded. This particular type of supernova is a type Ia, which is assumed to be due to the destruction of a white dwarf in a binary star system. The supernova can be seen in the image as the brightest "star" within the galaxy; located to the left of the center of the galaxy.
St2000XCM Moon Shot1111 viewsThis was just a quick 0.01 second shot of the moon. Who said the moon didn't have color
The Eagle Nebula1711 viewsThe open cluster Messier 16 and the associated nebulosity IC 4703 are found in the constellation Serpens Cauda. The popular name of this object is the Eagle Nebula, and contains the "Pillars of Creation" that was made famous in the image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. This image was a total of 3.5 hours exposure (21 x 10 min subframes) taken with a modified Canon 40D and a Takahashi Epsilon-180ED.
M42 in Orion1552 viewsImaged with a 178mm f/9 Astro-Physics refractor and a Canon 20Da (ISO 800) on a Paramount. Total of 30 two-minute exposures aligned, collimated, and combined in Images Plus and processed in Adobe PhotoShop CS2. Exposures were keep short to preserve detail near the bright core of the nebula.
Pelican Nebula1611 viewsA single guided one-hour exposure of the pelican nebula in Cygnus taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 180 f/2.8 using a Canon 20Da DSLR on a Astro-Physics 1200 mount
Comet Holmes1310 viewsEleven 30-sec exposures stacked of Comet Holmes taken with an Astro-Physics 178 f9 and a Canon 20Da DSLR (ISO 800)
Barnard 86 and NGC 65201362 viewsBarnard 86, which is a dark nebula, and the open cluster NGC 6520 in a Milky Way star field in Sagittarius. Four 3-minute exposures stacked taken with a Takahashi FSQ 106 and a Canon 20Da DSLR (ISO 400)
